Angels 4, Cubs 3: Albert Pujols belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to erase a deficit and end host Los Angeles' four-game losing streak.

With the Angels trailing 3-2, Erick Aybar led off the eighth against Carlos Villanueva (1-4) with a single. After Mike Trout flied out, Pujols drilled Villanueva's first offering over the left-field wall for his ninth blast of the season.

The homer made a winner of Robert Coello (2-1), who tossed a scoreless top of the frame. Ernesto Frieri worked the ninth for his 13th save in 14 chances and Howie Kendrick went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Los Angeles, which was coming off a four-game sweep at the hands of visiting Houston.

Nate Schierholtz gave Chicago the lead with an RBI single in the first inning, but Pujols answered in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly. Alfonso Soriano and Ryan Sweeney delivered run-scoring base hits in the third to put the Cubs ahead 3-1 before Kendrick got back a run with a single in the seventh.

Sweeney collected three hits for the Cubs, who have lost three straight.
