He struck out six and walked three in winning his third straight start, two of which have come against the Cubs. Chicago got the tying run to the plate with no outs in the ninth before J.J. Hoover worked out of the jam for his second save.
Edwin Jackson (0-5) remained winless in seven starts with the Cubs, allowing four runs on eight hits over five innings. The Reds took control with three runs in the fourth, as Jay Bruce started the scoring with an RBI double and Frazier added a two-run single before Zack Cozart's sacrifice fly made it 4-0 in the fifth.
The Cubs made a game of it with three runs in the fifth. The first two came when Alfonso Soriano's fly ball to shallow center glanced off second baseman Brandon Phillips' glove and hit center fielder Shin-Soo Choo in the face.
Nate Schierholtz followed with an RBI single to score Soriano and make it 4-3, but Cincinnati answered with two in the seventh on an RBI double by Votto and a sacrifice fly from Phillips. Donald Lutz added his first career RBI with a fielder's choice in the eighth for the Reds.
