Mets 5, Braves 2: Dillon Gee scattered four hits over seven innings and Andrew Brown and Lucas Duda belted mammoth homers as visiting New York salvaged the finale of the three-game series.

Duda finished a triple shy of the cycle and Daniel Murphy and Justin Turner each collected two hits and scored a run. Juan Lagares singled to extend his hitting streak to 10 games and drove in one and scored a run for the Mets, who kept the Braves' magic number at 10 to clinch the National League East.

Gee (11-9) improved to 4-1 in his last six starts after striking out five and allowing just B.J. Upton's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Freddie Freeman crushed a two-out homer in the eighth off Vic Black for his sixth blast against New York this season, but LaTroy Hawkins retired the side in the ninth for his seventh save.

Brown started the fireworks in the first inning by jumping on an 0-1 slider from Kameron Loe (0-2) and depositing it well over the wall in left field for a two-run blast. Loe, who was making his first start since Sept. 3, 2007, also saw Duda belt his 3-2 fastball over the wall in right for his 12th homer in the third inning.

Some shoddy defense plagued the Braves as Gee's fly ball resulted in an RBI single, thanks to miscommunication by left fielder Evan Gattis and center fielder Upton. The mishap capped a three-run third inning as the Mets seized a 5-0 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Murphy legged out a triple in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to nine games. ... Loe, who has been touched for 11 homers in 22 innings this season, permitted five runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 frames. ... The Mets open a three-game series versus Cleveland on Friday to wrap up a nine-game road trip. Atlanta, which has won eight of its last 10, begins a seven-game road trip on Friday with a three-game series against NL East rival Philadelphia.
