Red Sox 9, Phillies 2: Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-4 and set a franchise record with five stolen bases as visiting Boston earned a split of a two-game set at Philadelphia.

David Ortiz and Jonny Gomes each hit a solo home run and Jarrod Saltalamacchia doubled twice and drove in three for the Red Sox in support of Franklin Morales (1-0), who allowed two runs on four hits over five innings in his season debut.

Delmon Young hit a two-run homer as the Phillies settled for a split of the four-game interleague series after taking one at Fenway Park earlier in the week.

Jonathan Pettibone (3-1) started for Philadelphia and allowed singles to the first two batters before Dustin Pedroia’s groundout got Boston on the board. Mike Carp added an RBI single and Saltalamacchia sent a two-run double into the right-field corner to cap the four-run frame.

The Phillies cut the deficit in half on Young’s opposite-field shot to right-center in the first but the Red Sox tacked on more against the Philadelphia bullpen. Jeremy Horst surrendered Gomes’ pinch-hit blast to center in the sixth and was responsible for Ortiz’s homer leading off the seventh before Boston put it away with a three-run ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ellsbury reached base five times with three singles, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. His five steals breaks the club record of four originally set by Jerry Remy in 1980. Ellsbury stole four bases in a 2010 game. … Phillies OF Domonic Brown recorded two hits but had his three-game streak with at least one home run come to an end. … Boston RHP Clay Buchholz (AC joint) threw in the bullpen before the game and is on schedule to return to the rotation Sunday at the New York Yankees.
