Red Sox 12, Orioles 3:
Daniel Nava homered during a five-run first inning and Clay Buchholz worked seven strong frames as visiting Boston inched closer to clinching home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Stephen Drew drove in three runs, David Ortiz hit his 30th home run and Mike Napoli added an RBI double for the Red Sox, who are two games ahead of the Oakland Athletics with two left in the regular season. Buchholz (12-1) made his longest start since coming off the disabled list and was charged with three runs on seven hits.

Adam Jones clubbed a two-run homer and Chris Davis hit his 53rd blast but Scott Feldman (12-12) was ripped for eight runs on as many hits in 2 1/3 innings as Baltimore fell for the seventh time in nine games.

Napoli got the Boston offense started with an RBI double in the first and Nava followed by sending a towering blast into the seats in right field for a three-run homer. Drew added an RBI triple into the right-field corner to cap the five-run uprising.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia had a three-run homer overturned on review in the third, settling for an RBI double before coming home when Drew followed with a two-run single to make it an 8-0 gap. Ortiz sent a three-run opposite-field blast to left in the eighth to reach 30 home runs for the first time since 2010.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Saltalamacchia’s double was his 40th of the season, setting a club record for a catcher. … Red Sox CF Jacoby Ellsbury (broken foot) played in his second straight game and was the only player in the starting lineup without a hit, going 0-for-4 before being lifted in the eighth. … Feldman’s eight earned runs marked a season high and snapped a string of eight straight starts allowing three or fewer.
