Orioles 5, Blue Jays 3: Chris Davis became the first player in three years to hit 50 home runs in a season, belting the go-ahead solo shot in the eighth inning as visiting Baltimore ended a three-game skid.

Davis blasted an offering from Steve Delabar (5-4) over the center-field fence to tie Brady Anderson for the single-season franchise record in homers. He's the first man to reach the 50-homer plateau since Toronto outfielder Jose Bautista swatted 54 in 2010.

Tommy Hunter (5-4) worked 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win while Jim Johnson worked around a leadoff single in the ninth to secure his 44th save as the Orioles remained 2 1/2 games behind Tampa Bay for the second American League wild-card spot. Toronto has dropped four in a row and is on the verge of being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Adam Lind opened the scoring in the fourth with a two-run shot several rows into the seats in right-center for his 20th of the year. Colby Rasmus extended the Toronto lead an inning later, golfing a Jason Hammel offering into the Baltimore bullpen in right.

Baltimore got it all back with a rally in the seventh. J.J. Hardy's one-out double scored Adam Jones and Steve Clevenger followed three batters later with a two-run bloop double to right that dropped in front of outfielder Moises Sierra and bounced over his head.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Toronto starter Todd Redmond limited Baltimore to a run on three hits while fanning seven over 6 1/3 innings. Hammel allowed three runs on three hits over five frames. ... Davis joined Albert Belle and Babe Ruth as the only players with 50 home runs and 40 doubles in a season ... Baltimore's victory evened the season series at seven wins apiece.
