Yankees 6, Red Sox 1: Freddy Garcia pitched 6 2/3 strong innings and Andruw Jones smacked two of New York’s four home runs as the visiting Yankees took the opener of a day-night doubleheader.

Nick Swisher hit a three-run blast and Jayson Nix added a solo shot for New York, which has won three straight and leads the majors with 130 home runs.

The Yankees, who scored five runs in the first inning of Friday’s 10-8 victory, put together another strong start Saturday afternoon with four runs in the opening frame. Franklin Morales (1-2) put two on with two outs in front of Swisher, who got a 1-0 fastball down the middle and sent it into the Green Monster seats for a three-run blast.

Jones made it back-to-back home runs on a 3-2 pitch that missed its spot.

Morales would yield back-to-back homers again leading off the fourth, with Jones sending his ninth into the Monster seats and Nix blasting a long line drive that made it to the parking garage across the street.

Garcia (3-2) did not give up a hit until the fourth, when Boston finally got on the board with three straight singles. The veteran right-hander ended up charged with one run on six hits while striking out five and walking a pair.

Mauro Gomez drove in the lone run for the Red Sox, who dropped back to .500 at 42-42.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Red Sox 1B Adrian Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a single in the fourth. … Boston LF Carl Crawford (elbow/wrist) suffered a setback in his rehab when he tweaked his groin running out a triple during a Double-A game Saturday. He will take a few more days off. … Morales had never allowed more than two homers in 164 previous major-league appearances. … Derek Jeter went 3-for-5 for New York, bumping his career hit total to 3,196. He trails Nap Lajoie by 46 for 13th all-time.
