Padres 7, Giants 1: Cameron Maybin went 4-for-5 with three RBI and Clayton Richard tossed eight strong innings as host San Diego snapped a five-game losing streak.

Richard (10-12) gave up one unearned run with no walks and beat San Francisco for the first time in four starts this season. The Giants were out-hit 16-7 and fell one half-game behind Los Angeles in the National League West.

Ryan Vogelsong (10-7) had his second straight rocky outing, throwing 96 pitches in three innings and allowing three runs on eight hits.

The Padres jumped on Vogelsong for three runs in the first when Carlos Quentin singled in a run and Maybin drove in two when his single dropped in front of center fielder Angel Pagan.

Vogelsong escaped the first after giving up just two runs, but he faced eight batters and threw 35 pitches in the inning.

Maybin extended the Padres’ lead in the fifth when his single scored Alexi Amarista, who tripled off Jose Mijares to lead off the inning. Everth Cabrera capped the rally with a two-run double to deep left field.

After Quentin was hit by a pitch for the 14th time this season in the second inning, and umpire Brian O’Nora warned both dugouts when Brandon Belt was hit by Richard in the fourth inning.

Will Venable and Cabrera had three hits apiece, including Venable's solo homer in the eighth. San Diego, which was outscored 36-9 during its five-game losing streak, beat the Giants for just the seventh time in the last 26 matchups.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Maybin, who entered the game hitting .211, recorded his seventh four-hit game of his career. … Padres 3B Chase Headley was ejected for the second time in his career by O’Nora after the fourth inning for arguing. … The Giants and Dodgers begin a three-game series in Los Angeles on Monday. … Cabrera stole his 21st base and is a perfect 21-for-21 in stolen base attempts this season.
