Giants 2, Padres 1:
Brandon Belt hit a two-run double in the seventh inning and Tim Lincecum gave up three hits over eight frames as the Giants spoiled Anthony Bass’ strong outing.

Bass (1-3) retired his first 17 batters before Lincecum singled to break up his perfect game with two outs in the sixth. Bass gave up six hits with no walks and eight strikeouts over eight innings.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh, the Giants took the lead when Belt’s two-out double to deep left-center field scored Melky Cabrera and Nate Schierholtz.

After four uncharacteristically shaky starts, Lincecum (2-2) gave up one unearned run with four walks and five strikeouts on 121 pitches. Santiago Casilla worked around one baserunner in the ninth inning for his third save.

San Diego managed only three hits and scored on Nick Hundley’s sacrifice fly in the third inning.

Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval went 0-for-4 to snap his franchise-record hitting streak to open a season at 20 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Giants infielder Ryan Theriot received his 2011 World Series ring in a private ceremony with Tony LaRussa prior to the game. … The Padres and Mets are the only two teams without a no-hitter. … The Giants optioned Eric Hacker to Triple-A Fresno and recalled reliever Steve Edlefsen. … Angel Pagan extended his hitting streak to 13 games. … Over the last three seasons at AT&T Park, 18 of the 20 games played between the Giants and the Padres have been decided by three runs or fewer.
