Giants 8, Rockies 3: Hunter Pence doubled twice and drove in three runs while Tim Lincecum pitched six effective innings as visiting San Francisco completed a three-game sweep.
Acquired from Philadelphia at the July 31 trade deadline, Pence registered only two hits over 17 at-bats in his first four games with the National League West-leading Giants. He matched that total with RBI doubles in the fifth and seventh innings as San Francisco scored 35 runs in the series after recording just 19 over its previous eight games.
Lincecum (6-11) allowed only one run on five hits and five walks as he posted his third win in four starts. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner struck out three in improving to 5-3 lifetime at Coors Field.
The Giants took a 2-0 lead in the first inning without the benefit of a hit. After a pair of walks and an error loaded the bases, Angel Pagan scored on a passed ball by Wilin Rosario and Pence plated Ryan Theriot with a groundout.
Lincecum drove in a run in the fourth with a fielder's choice and Pence made it 4-1 an inning later. Pence increased the lead in the seventh and Marco Scutaro followed with a two-run double. Buster Posey capped the scoring in the ninth with a single that brought home Melky Cabrera, who scored three runs.
Tyler Chatwood (1-2) yielded three runs - one earned - and two hits over 3 1/3 innings in his first start of the season. The 22-year-old, who notched his first major-league save against the Giants on April 11, walked four and struck out one.
Carlos Gonzalez and Jordan Pacheco each had two hits and an RBI for the Rockies, who completed a 1-8 homestand.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Rockies have lost 11 of 13 overall and 14 of 17 at Coors Field. ... Scutaro has hit safely in eight of nine games since being acquired from Colorado. Scutaro is batting .353 (12-for-34) with six RBIs in that span. ... Colorado placed LHP Jonathan Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list with left bicep tendinitis in a move that made room on the roster for Chatwood, who was recalled from Double-A Tulsa. Sanchez has gone 0-3 with a 9.53 ERA in three starts since being acquired from Kansas City.
