Diamondbacks 7, Giants 6: Arizona scored the go-ahead run when San Francisco catcher Buster Posey failed to touch home plate on a force play to complete a season-opening three-game sweep of the visiting Giants.

The Diamondbacks also scored the tying run on a San Francisco defensive miscue earlier in the seventh inning to cap a comeback from a 6-0 deficit and defeat the Giants for the seventh consecutive time.

San Francisco put two runners on in the ninth before Bryan Shaw struck out Posey to record his first career save.

Arizona trailed 6-5 entering the seventh and loaded the bases with one out. The tying run scored when Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford misplayed a grounder by Miguel Montero.

Chris Young followed with a grounder to third and Pablo Sandoval threw home but Posey’s right foot was off the plate as Aaron Hill scored.

Posey’s two-run homer in the third gave the Giants a 6-0 lead but starter Matt Cain couldn’t hold the huge lead.

Lyle Overbay homered and drove in three runs to fuel Arizona’s comeback. Overbay had a two-run double in the fourth and homered in the sixth immediately after Ryan Roberts belted a two-run homer.

Wade Miley (1-0) pitched four innings of hitless relief for Arizona. Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt (0-1) took the loss.

Crawford smacked a two-run double as part of San Francisco’s three-run second inning. The Giants scored three more times in the third with Sandoval singling home a run prior to Posey’s homer to right-center field against Josh Collmenter.

Cain pitched six innings in his first outing since signing the richest contract after bestowed on a right-handed pitcher. Cain gave up five runs and six hits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The teams combined for eight errors, five by Arizona … Sandoval went 5-for-12 in the series … Collmenter allowed six runs (five earned) and five hits in three innings … Posey had gone 27 games without a homer, including the stretch before last season’s injury.
