Rangers 6, Athletics 3: Ian Kinsler hit a two-run double and Derek Holland bounced back from his worst outing of the season as visiting Texas won for only the second time in its last six games.

Josh Hamilton added an RBI double and Michael Young had a run-scoring triple for the Rangers, who raced to a 5-0 lead.

Holland (5-4) allowed a two-run homer to Collin Cowgill in the fifth inning and a solo shot to Yoenis Cespedes in the sixth and yielded seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. He was roughed up for eight runs in 1 2/3 innings in the Rangers’ 21-8 loss to Seattle on Wednesday.

Alexi Ogando and Mike Adams followed Holland with 2 2/3 scoreless innings before Joe Nathan pitched a scoreless ninth for his 12th save in 13 chances.

Oakland’s Travis Blackley (0-1), a 29-year-old Australian who was making his second career start, allowed five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.

The Rangers went in front 3-0 in the third inning when Kinsler and Hamilton provided run-scoring hits.

Yorvit Torrealba’s sacrifice fly in the fourth made it 4-0 before Young’s triple in the fifth.

Elvis Andrus added an RBI single in the eighth. Kinsler and Adrian Beltre had two hits apiece.

Oakland left-hander Sean Doolittle made his major league debut and retired all four batters he faced with three strikeouts.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hamilton, who leads the major leagues with 21 home runs and 58 RBIs and was the American League Player of the Month for April and May, is 3-for-21 in five June games with eight strikeouts, no homers and an RBI. … Doolittle, a converted first baseman, allowed eight hits, seven walks and struck out 48 in 25 innings (16 games) combined at all three minor league levels in 2012 prior to his call-up. His ERA was 0.72. … Athletics reliever Andrew Carignan left in the eighth inning with an apparent arm injury after retiring two batters and walking another. … Cespedes made a leaping catch into the wall to rob Beltre of extra bases in the ninth inning.
