Giants 5, Pirates 0: Matt Cain tossed a one-hit, 11-strikeout complete-game gem and Aubrey Huff belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning as San Francisco won its home opener.

Buster Posey ripped an RBI double off the center-field wall in the first inning and Huff and Nate Schierholtz added run-scoring singles. Melky Cabrera posted his fourth straight multi-hit contest with a pair of singles to extend his hitting streak to seven games.

Tyler Stow, who is the son of a San Francisco fan nearly beaten to death prior to the 2011 season opener, threw out the first pitch with his dad live on the video board.

Joined by his mother, Bryan Stow held up a baseball and said, "Tyler, here's your ball, son. Good luck." The 13-year-old boy "caught" the ball and made his toss.

Signed to a six-year, $127.5 million contract extension in the off-season, Cain (1-0) retired his first 17 batters he faced before allowing a single to left field by pitcher James McDonald in the sixth inning. Cain wouldn't be touched again and recorded his third career one-hitter and eighth double-digit strikeout game.

McDonald (0-1) yielded three runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Pirates have mustered just four runs in as many games and rank last in the majors in scoring. ... Huff's homer was his first of the season. ... Cain improved to 2-2 in nine career starts versus Pittsburgh, while McDonald dropped to 1-3 against the Giants.
