Brewers 8, Padres 3: National League MVP Ryan Braun delivered his first career three-homer game - in successive at-bats - and had six RBIs to power visiting Milwaukee.

Braun became the first player to hit three home runs in a contest at Petco Park and his RBI total matched a career high.

Braun fell just short in his bid to become the 14th player in major league history to hit four homers in a game when he crushed a one-hopper off the right center field fence for a two-run triple in the ninth. The 15 total bases are a Brewers team record.

Braun delivered a solo shot off Joe Wieland in the fourth, a two-run blast into the upper deck in left off Wieland in the fifth and a low liner into the first row in left in the seventh off Ernesto Frieri. He faced only four pitches in his home run at-bats.

Randy Wolf (2-2) allowed three runs and nine hits and five innings to win his second consecutive start. Kameron Loe struck out three in two innings of relief, Francisco Rodriguez pitched a scoreless eighth and Tim Dillard did the same in the ninth.

Wieland (0-4) allowed five runs (three earned), five hits and struck out eight in five innings. He has lost the first four starts of his career.

Alex Gonzalez's two-run double in the fourth put Milwaukee ahead for good 3-1.

Jason Bartlett drove in two runs, including an RBI double, and Yonder Alonso had an run-scoring single for San Diego.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Braun hit his first major league homer May 26, 2007 in a 6-3 loss at San Diego. ... The Padres have scored six runs in Wieland's four starts. ... Milwaukee's Aramis Ramirez had his seven-game hitting streak snapped. ... The Padres have not won a series this season and have the National League's worst record at 7-17. ... Carlos Delgado was the last player to hit four homers in a game in 2003.
