Padres 8, Astros 2: Yonder Alonso homered and Ross Ohlendorf pitched six solid innings as host San Diego snapped a four-game home losing streak.

Ohlendorf (3-0) gave up two runs (one earned) and struck out six for his first win over Houston in 11 career starts. The Astros lost for the 14th time in their last 16 games.

Alonso put San Diego up 2-1 in the second with a two-run blast to left field off Jordan Lyles (2-6), who is still looking for his first career road win after allowing five runs on 11 hits over six innings.

After J.D. Martinez tied the game in the third with an RBI single, San Diego responded by scoring twice in the fifth on RBIs by Chase Headley and Yasmani Grandal.

Alexi Amarista singled in a run in the sixth with one of his three hits, and the Padres drew clear with three more runs in the seventh. Cameron Maybin capped the inning with a two-run ground-rule double.

Marwin Gonzalez had three hits for Houston, which was aiming to win back-to-back road games for the first time since April 25-27.
