Padres 7, Astros 3: Alexi Amarista capped a six-run ninth inning with a grand slam off Brett Myers as visiting San Diego earned a split of the four-game series.
Houston spoiled Andrew Cashner's no-hit bid in the seventh as Carlos Lee hit a one-out single, and Brian Bogusevic followed with a two-run homer to erase a 1-0 deficit. J.D. Martinez scored on a wild pitch by Nick Vincent in the eighth to increase the Astros' lead, but the Padres rallied against Myers (0-3) to even their record at 2-2 on their 10-game road trip.
After John Baker led off with a double and fellow pinch hitter Mark Kotsay delivered a one-out single to put runners on the corners, Houston third baseman Chris Johnson failed to field a grounder by Logan Forsythe, allowing Baker to score.
Chase Headley, who belted a solo homer in the third and finished with three hits, blooped a single to load the bases and Myers hit Carlos Quentin with a pitch, forcing in the tying run. Jesus Guzman struck out, but Amarista deposited a 2-1 offering over the wall in right for his first career homer.
Vincent (1-0) picked up the win in just his second major-league appearance.
Cashner was superb prior to Bogusevic's homer. Making just his third career start, the converted reliever retired 14 batters in a row prior to Lee's single, striking out the side in both the third and sixth frames.
The 25-year-old Cashner was lifted after serving up the home run, having allowed two runs and two hits with one walk and nine strikeouts.
Counterpart Dallas Keuchel yielded one run and four hits over six innings for the Astros, who completed a 5-5 homestand.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Myers' blown save was just his second in 19 opportunities. ... Amarista was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels in the Ernesto Frieri deal on May 3. ... Houston 2B Jose Altuve is expected to remain out of the lineup until at least Sunday due to a strained hamstring. "We want to make sure that he's absolutely right," Astros manager Brad Mills said. "At the very earliest, (his return) will probably be Sunday. We'll see how it goes today, but it might be Pittsburgh (on Monday)."
