Twins 10, Royals 7: Justin Morneau broke a 4-4 tie with a two-run homer in the fifth inning and Cole De Vries won his first major league game to lead visiting Minnesota to its sixth win in seven contests.

Trevor Plouffe added a solo shot in the fifth and Josh Willingham delivered a two-run blast in the first inning and had three RBIs for the Twins. Jamey Carroll and Ben Revere added three hits, two RBIs and two runs apiece.

Mike Moustakas homered, doubled twice, had two RBIs and scored three times for the Royals, who are a major league-worst 7-19 at home.

De Vries (1-1) allowed five runs (four earned) and six hits in five-plus innings. Fellow rookie Will Smith (1-2) allowed seven runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings in his Kansas City home debut.

Carroll’s RBI single in the second inning made it 3-0 before Moustakas’ homer in the bottom half made it a two-run game.

Carroll’s triple to left center in the fourth plated Alexi Casilla.

The Royals tied the game 4-4 in the fourth after consecutive errors by shortstop Brian Dozier and second baseman Casilla allowed runs to score following Moustakas’ RBI double. De Vries avoided further trouble when he struck out Jarrod Dyson and Humberto Quintero - both looking - with runners on second and third and one out.
