Twins 3, Indians 0: Cole De Vries pitched six strong innings and Ben Revere recorded two hits, two stolen bases and two runs scored as Minnesota evened the series with visiting Cleveland.

Joe Mauer singled in a run, Josh Willingham hit a sacrifice fly and Justin Morneau chipped in an RBI with a bases-loaded walk for the Twins, who moved within two games of the Indians in the American League Central as they race to avoid the basement.

De Vries (5-5) allowed four hits and walked one while striking out two to pick up his third straight win. The rookie right-hander has surrendered two runs or less in each of his last four starts.

Brian Duensing and Jared Burton each tossed a perfect inning in front of Glen Perkins, who retired the side for his 11th save.

Cleveland starter Zach McAllister (5-7) struggled with his command and needed 87 pitches to get through three innings. Minnesota finally made him pay for his wildness in the third, when Revere reached with a one-out single and Jamey Carroll was hit by a pitch.

Revere and Carroll pulled off a double steal and Mauer’s single broke a scoreless drought. Willingham followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

Scott Maine issued the bases-loaded walk to Morneau in the fifth to provide the final margin.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Twins retired long-time manager Tom Kelly’s No. 10 in a ceremony before the game. Kelly managed Minnesota to World Series championships in 1987 and 1991. … Twins CF Denard Span (shoulder) took batting practice on Saturday and is hopeful of coming of the DL when eligible on Wednesday. … Cleveland rookie Russ Canzler went 1-for-3 and has hit safely in each of his six games since being recalled. … The Indians (4-3 in September) remain one win shy of matching their total number of wins in August (5-24).
