Reds 7, Indians 1:
Johnny Cueto threw his second complete game of the season and Joey Votto homered and drove in three runs as Cincinnati beat visiting Cleveland in the opener of an intrastate series.

The Reds won for just the second time in five games overall and posted their second victory in eight meetings with the Indians.

Cueto (7-3) continued his dominance against the Indians, improving to 3-0 in five starts against them. He held Cleveland to six hits and struck out seven to win his second straight start.

Jason Kipnis gave the Indians a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first, but it was all Cueto and the Reds from there. Cincinnati tied it in the third and took the lead on Jay Bruce's sacrifice fly in the fifth. Votto added his two-run blast to the opposite field in the seventh, and the Reds broke it open with three in the eighth.

Indians starter Jeanmar Gomez (4-5) took the loss, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings. He was hurt by four walks, matching a season high.

Cincinnati's Wilson Valdez, who was making a rare start at shortstop with Zack Cozart battling an illness, went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

Cleveland's Michael Brantley extended his hitting streak to 19 games to match a career high, and Asdrubal Cabrera set a career high by pushing his streak to 13 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: At least one home run has been hit in 57 consecutive games at Great American Ball Park, the longest active streak in the majors. … The home run was Votto's seventh in 23 career games against Cleveland. … Reds manager Dusty Baker made a trip to the mound after Cueto allowed an infield single with two outs in the ninth but left his right-hander in to record the final out.
