Reds 8, Nationals 5: Joey Votto’s two-run double with one out in the 11th inning lifted Cincinnati to its first road win of the year and snapped Washington’s five-game winning streak.

Drew Stubbs and Zack Cozart singled against Tyler Clippard (1-1) before Votto, who had been intentionally walked in his previous two plate appearances, ripped a 2-0 pitch over the head of Nationals left fielder Mark DeRosa to put the visitors in front by two. Scott Rolen followed with an RBI base hit.

Sean Marshall allowed the tying run to come to the plate in the bottom of the inning but held on to save it for Jose Arredondo (1-0), who struck out two during a perfect 10th inning.

Cincinnati took an early four-run lead on Ryan Ludwick’s grand slam to center field off Ross Detwiler, which came after a two-out error by Washington shortstop Ian Desmond kept the inning alive. An RBI single by Ryan Hanigan in the top of fourth made it 5-0.

The Nationals got three runs in their half of the fourth, with Adam LaRoche’s bases-loaded single accounting for two. Desmond doubled home another run in the fifth inning to bring Washington back within one at 5-4, then tied the game up with an RBI single in the seventh.

Detwiler allowed five runs, only one of them earned, in five innings for Washington. He gave up six hits and two walks while striking out two. Cincinnati starter Mike Leake allowed five runs on five hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Detwiler came in with a 0-3 record against the Reds ... Cincinnati left the bases loaded in the seventh inning ... Votto was intentionally walked in the seventh and ninth innings, followed both times by 3B Scott Rolen striking out to end the inning.
