Kyle Kendrick tossed a seven-hit shutout for his first victory as visiting Philadelphia won its fourth straight.

Kendrick (1-4), who had been backed by five total runs in his previous four starts, fanned four and walked none. He needed just 94 pitches to improve to 5-1 lifetime against St. Louis, which has won just five of its last 16 games.

Hunter Pence led off the fourth with a single and scored on a double by Shane Victorino, who was 0-for-8 in the series before finding the gap in left-center. The Phillies broke it open with a three-run sixth highlighted by John Mayberry Jr.’s two-run double.

The Phillies improved to 21-6 when scoring four or more runs, compared to 4-17 when scoring three or fewer.

Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday took away a home run in the first inning when he jumped against the wall in left and snared Jimmy Rollins’ drive.

Jaime Garcia (3-3) went six innings for the Cardinals, allowing four runs on six hits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cardinals manager Mike Matheny rested SS Rafael Furcal, who had missed just three starts and one game, and C Yadier Molina, who had appeared in 42 of St. Louis’ first 46 games, starting 39 of them. … The Phillies go for the four-game sweep Sunday behind Roy Halladay, who will be opposed by Adam Wainwright.
