Reds 3, Mets 0: Jay Bruce hit a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift host Cincinnati to its fourth straight win.

It was the 23rd homer of the year and fourth career walk-off blast for Bruce, who drilled a fastball from Josh Edgin to left field to break open a scoreless duel that featured a combined 24 runners left on base.

Jose Arredondo (5-2) pitched a scoreless inning for the win while Manny Acosta (1-3) took the loss after allowing a leadoff walk to Brandon Phillips and single to Ryan Ludwick to open the ninth.

Right-hander Mat Latos turned in another stellar effort for the Reds, blanking the Mets on five hits over seven innings.

Mets starter Chris Young was not quite as efficient but managed to shut down Cincinnati with 5 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing eight hits and four walks while striking out four.

The Reds left the bases loaded in both the sixth and seven innings and stranded 14 runners while going 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position before Bruce's decisive blast.

Ludwick and Ryan Hanigan had two hits apiece for the Reds, who have won five of six matchups with New York this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Latos has allowed one run in his last 21 1/3 innings and only five runs in his last five starts. ... The Mets acquired backup C Kelly Shoppach from the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later. Shoppach batted .250 with five homers and 17 RBIs in 48 games with Boston. Manager Terry Collins said he will platoon the right-handed hitting Shoppach with C Josh Thole. ... Reds 3B Scott Rolen took batting practice Tuesday but remained out of the lineup with a sore back that has sidelined him since Aug. 7. ... Young became the first New York pitcher to put on 12 baserunners and not allow a run since Bobby Jones in 1996.
