Phillies 8, Mets 4: Ty Wigginton went 3-for-3 with a homer and a career-high six RBIs in support of Cole Hamels as visiting Philadelphia took the series opener from New York.

John Mayberry added a two-run homer for the Phillies, who won for the fifth time in the last six games and improved to 2-5 against the Mets this season.

Wigginton put the Phillies on top 5-4 in the seventh, when he came up with two outs and runners on the corners and took a 3-2, 100-mph fastball from Bobby Parnell (1-1) back into center field for an RBI single. He put the game out of reach with a three-run homer off Manny Acosta in the ninth.

Hamels (8-1) was charged with four runs and seven hits but lasted eight innings, striking out six and walking one. The left-hander has won eight straight decisions and tied St. Louis' Lance Lynn for the most wins in the majors.

Wigginton opened the scoring with a two-run double off Jon Niese in the third.

Rookie Vinny Rottino knotted it at 2 with a line-drive two-run homer to left after Lucas Duda walked to lead off the fifth.

Mayberry gave the Phillies the lead back with a two-run blast in the sixth, ending Niese’s day. But Scott Hairston evened it up again in the sixth, taking a high fastball from Hamels and belting it on a line into the left-field stands for a two-run blast.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New York starting shortstop Justin Turner left the game in the third with a sprained right ankle after being caught in a rundown, pushing third baseman David Wright to short for the second time in his career. … Rottino’s blast was just over the orange line in left, where the fence was lowered before the season. It would not have been a home run previously at Citi Field. … Phillies RH Roy Halladay (shoulder) will meet with doctors on Tuesday.
