Padres 7, Marlins 2: Rookie Yasmani Grandal ripped a bases-clearing triple to highlight a five-run sixth inning and Kip Wells tossed six solid frames as San Diego posted its ninth straight road victory over the Marlins.

Yonder Alonso had a pair of RBI singles and Chase Headley and Grandal scored twice for the Padres, who won for the ninth time in 13 outings while handing Miami its eighth loss in nine games.

Grandal, who was born in Cuba but resides in Miami, gave San Diego a 4-2 lead after depositing an offering from Carlos Zambrano (5-9) over the head of center fielder Justin Ruggiano. The ball rolled to the wall as all three runners aboard crossed the plate.

Alonso, who also lives in south Florida, brought Grandal home with an RBI single to left field to cap the uprising.

After allowing just one hit prior to the decisive inning, Zambrano did not make it out of the frame. Zambrano yielded five runs and issued four walks to take the loss.

Wells (2-3) benefited from the big inning to snap a modest two-game losing skid. The veteran right-hander allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four.

Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to 14 games with an RBI triple in the fourth inning. Carlos Lee had two hits - including an RBI single - for the Marlins, who saw their Nos. 5-8 hitters go a combined 0-for-16 at the plate.
