Braves 7, Marlins 1: Tommy Hanson threw five strong innings and Juan Francisco had one of three Atlanta homers as the Braves cruised past host Miami.

Coming off back-to-back dismal outings, Hanson (11-5) overcame a bout of wildness - issuing a season-high seven walks - while limiting the Marlins to a run on three hits. Hanson struck out seven but needed 108 pitches to record 15 outs.

Kris Medlen and Jonny Venters took over from there, holding Miami to just one hit over the final four frames while striking out seven.

Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco (8-9) dropped his third straight decision, charged with six runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three for Miami, which fell in its first game since trading All-Star infielder Hanley Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Francisco and the Braves provided all the offense Hanson needed in a three-run third. After Jason Heyward reached on a one-out double and scored on a Freddie Freeman single to center, Francisco connected on a 1-1 pitch from Nolasco and sent it over the right-field wall for his eighth home run of the season.

Francisco added a run-scoring single in the sixth and finished with three hits while Michael Bourn and Jason Heyward also went deep for the Braves, who prevailed despite allowing Miami to steal seven bases - the most any team has recorded this season.

Justin Ruggiano drove in the only Miami run on a double to left field in the third. Ruggiano finished with two hits and a stolen base.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Marlins' franchise record for stolen bases in a game is 10, set in a 6-2 loss to the San Diego Padres back on May 18, 2000. ... Hanson had surrendered 14 runs in his previous two starts spanning just 9 1/3 innings. ... Ramirez was dealt late Tuesday night for RHP Nate Eovaldi and minor-league hurler Scott McGough. Reliever Randy Choate also was sent to the Dodgers. ... Bourn's home run was his eighth of the season. He came into the year with just 13 homers in 2,391 major-league at-bats. ... Miami hit a paltry 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
