Brewers 8, Blue Jays 3: Martin Maldonado hit one of three homers in a five-run second inning that lifted the Brewers to an easy win over visiting Toronto.

Corey Hart and Carlos Gomez also went deep in the second and Ryan Braun added a two-run shot in the seventh as the Brewers took two of three from the Jays to even their home record at 18-18.

The four homers provided plenty of support for winning pitcher Yovani Gallardo (6-5), who won for the fourth time in his past five decisions. Gallardo allowed three runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings while striking out seven.

Jays counterpart Joel Carreno (0-2) absorbed the loss, charged with five runs on five hits over three frames.

Toronto's Edwin Encarnacion opened the scoring in the second frame, blasting a Gallardo breaking ball over the center-field wall for his 20th of the campaign. It's the first time in his career that Encarnacion has hit 20 homers before the All-Star break.

The Brewers quickly drew even in the bottom half of the inning as Hart smashed a Carreno offering the opposite way, barely clearing the right-field wall for his 15th of the year. Milwaukee went ahead for good later in the frame after Cody Ransom drew a two-out walk and Maldonado followed with a shot to the bullpen in left-center.

Gallardo then doubled to deep center field and came around to score on Gomez's two-run blast that sailed into the second deck down the left-field line.

Nyjer Morgan made it a 6-1 game in the fifth with a bloop single down the right field line that brought home Gomez, who walked and stole second base.

Colby Rasmus chased Gallardo in the seventh with an RBI double and Encarnacion was hit with the bases loaded to make it a 6-3 game, but Tim Dillard struck out Kelly Johnson to end the threat.

The Brewers got both runs back in the bottom half, as Braun clubbed a two-run shot deep into the seats in right-center for his 20th of the year.

Maldonado has five home runs in just 61 at-bats since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville at the end of May. He finished 3-for-4 Wednesday. ... Morgan's RBI was his first of the season that didn't come courtesy of a solo home run.
