Blue Jays 3, Yankees 2: Rajai Davis had three hits and two RBIs and rookie Adeiny Hechavarria drove in the eventual winning run with a double in the sixth inning as Toronto dealt visiting New York a setback in its quest to clinch a playoff berth.

Andy Pettitte (5-4) suffered his first loss in three starts since coming off the disabled list. After pitching 11 scoreless innings in his first two starts, the 40-year-old allowed three runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.

The Yankees staked Pettitte to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on sacrifice flies by Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson, but the offense was quiet the rest of the way. New York fell into a tie for first place with Baltimore in the American League East after the Orioles recorded a 4-3 triumph over Boston on Saturday.

Davis got one back with his eighth homer, a solo shot just over the left-field wall in the first, and tied it with a run-scoring infield single in the fifth. Hechavarria gave the Blue Jays the lead with a double off the right-field wall in the sixth, extending his hitting streak to 10 games.

Blue Jays starter Ricky Romero left with an injured left knee after allowing two runs on six hits over three innings. Shawn Hill (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings and three more relievers bridged the gap to Casey Janssen, who worked around a two-out single in the ninth for his 21st save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Yankees OF Jayson Nix was sent back to New York for an MRI on his sore left hip flexor. … X-rays on Cano's left hand were negative, and he went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Cano was hit on the hand by a pitch in the sixth inning of Friday's win. … Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez's next RBI will be the 1,950th of his career, tying Stan Musial for fifth all-time.
