White Sox 2, Yankees 1: Chris Sale struck out 13 over 7 2/3 sizzling innings and Alex Rios belted a solo homer to snap a tie in the sixth as Chicago completed its first home sweep of New York in 21 years.

Kevin Youkilis' sacrifice fly plated Gordon Beckham in the third inning for the first-place White Sox, who remained two games ahead of Detroit in the American League Central. The Tigers recorded a 3-2 triumph over Toronto on Wednesday.

Derek Jeter homered for the third straight contest for the first time in his career. The Yankees, however, saw their lead in the AL East drop to three games after Tampa Bay posted a 5-3 win over Kansas City on Wednesday.

After Jeter leveled the contest by launching a 3-1 fastball over the wall in left in the top of the sixth, Rios answered in the bottom of the frame. Rios belted an inside fastball from Phil Hughes (12-11) that caromed off the top of the wall in left and into the seats for his 20th homer.

Rios' homer was the seventh of the series by Chicago - with seven different players doing the honors. The blast was the 29th allowed by Hughes, tying him with Los Angeles' Ervin Santana for second-most in the American League lead behind Baltimore's Tommy Hunter (33).

Sale (15-4) collected his seventh straight home victory after scattering three hits. Addison Reed struck out a pair in the ninth for his 23rd save.

Hughes fell to 3-8 on the road despite yielding two runs on five hits in seven innings.
