Yankees 4, Mariners 1: Ichiro Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in his New York debut and Hiroki Kuroda struck out nine in seven innings as visiting New York snapped a four-game slide.

Ichiro, acquired from Seattle hours before the game in exchange for a pair of pitching prospects, switched dugouts and batted eighth while playing his usual spot in right field. Alex Rodriguez homered and scored twice and Mark Teixeira doubled twice for the Yankees, who used a three-run fourth inning to get the better of Kevin Millwood (3-8).

Kuroda (10-7) surrendered one run on three hits and a walk to clinch his third straight season with double-figure wins. The veteran right-hander has allowed a total of one run and seven hits in 14 innings over his last two turns.

David Robertson pitched a scoreless eighth and Rafael Soriano locked up his 25th save with a flawless ninth.

The Mariners held a 1-0 lead after John Jaso’s RBI single in the third but New York quickly took over in the fourth. Rodriguez started the rally with a one-out double and Robinson Cano walked before Teixeira, Raul Ibanez and Andruw Jones each followed with RBI hits for a 3-1 edge.

Millwood lasted seven innings and was charged with three runs and nine hits. He struck out five and walkd a pair.

Rodriguez tacked on a run in the eighth, leading off against right-hander Steve Delabar and sending a rocket line drive into the seats in left-center field for his 14th homer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rodriguez’s home run was his 299th as a member of the Yankees and 644th overall. … The Mariners received minor league pitchers D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar in exchange for Ichiro. … Ichiro had never batted lower than No. 3 in the order with Seattle. He wore No. 31 instead of his usual 51, which has not been used by a Yankee since Bernie Williams retired. … The Mariners are batting a major league-worst .194 at home.
