Yankees 6, Mets 5: Robinson Cano smashed a prodigious tiebreaking homer to center in the eighth inning as the visiting Yankees defeated the Mets.

Nick Swisher hit a three-run homer and the Yankees ended the lengthy no earned runs allowed streak of Mets starter R.A. Dickey at 44 2/3 innings.

Cano’s leadoff blast in the eighth off Miguel Batista (1-2) sailed well over the center-field fence as the Yankees won two of three in this weekend’s Subway Series to finish 5-1 against the Mets and 13-5 in interleague play.

Boone Logan (2-0) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, David Robertson worked out of a jam in the eighth and Rafael Soriano pitched the ninth for his 15th save in 16 opportunities.

Dickey hadn’t allowed an earned run since May 22 entering the contest and stretched the streak to 44 2/3 innings prior to Mark Teixeira’s sacrifice fly in the third inning. Swisher followed with a three-run shot into the right-center field bleachers to make it 4-0.

The Yankees led 5-1 before the Mets rallied. David Wright’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth started the comeback and an error by Cano opened the door for the Mets to plate three unearned runs off CC Sabathia in the sixth.

Andres Torres delivered a two-run single to knock Sabathia out of the game and Ruben Tejada tied the contest with a run-scoring single to left against reliever Cory Wade.

The comeback kept Dickey’s nine-game winning streak from ending. The knuckleballer gave up five runs and five hits in six innings.

Sabathia allowed five runs (one earned) and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings.
