Indians 5, Red Sox 2:
Brent Lillibridge went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs against his former team and rookie Zach McAllister pitched a career-high eight innings as host Cleveland won for only the third time in its last 15 games.

McAllister (5-4) had lost his previous two starts and was 0-3 in his last four outings. He allowed two runs, three hits and struck out four to avenge a 4-1 loss at Boston on May 12.

Adrian Gonzalez had a two-run double for the Red Sox, who played their first game without rookie third baseman Will Middlebrooks. He is likely lost for the season when he fractured his right wrist after being hit by a pitch Friday. Boston has lost eight of its last 11 games.

Red Sox starter Franklin Morales (3-3) allowed three runs, two hits, walked four and struck out six in 5 1/3 innings.

Lillibridge went to Boston in the Kevin Youkilis deal on June 24 and was traded to Cleveland exactly one month later. He gave the Indians a 1-0 lead when he led off the third inning with his first homer of the season - a shot well into the left field seats.

The Red Sox went ahead 2-1 in the fourth inning when they loaded the bases with none out and Gonzalez delivered a fly ball off the wall just inside the left field foul pole to plate Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford. Dustin Pedroia was easily thrown out at the plate trying to score from first.

Lillibridge's one-out single to left-center field in the fifth inning made it 2-2 before Michael Brantley's sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth put the Indians ahead 3-2.

Cleveland took a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning when Lillibridge led off with a double to left-center, advanced to third on Casey Kotchman's groundout and scored on Lou Marson's suicide squeeze bunt.

The Indians scored their final run in the eighth inning on Ezequiel Carrera's RBI single.

Chris Perez worked around a two-out single in the ninth for his 31st save in 35 chances.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gaylord Perry was inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame prior to the game. Perry, who was 314-265 in his 22-year career, went 70-57 in three-plus years with Cleveland, including two 20-win seasons. ... Indians 2B Jason Kipnis (stiff neck) missed his third straight game. ... Ellsbury saved a run and robbed Asdrubal Cabrera of extra bases with a lunging catch on the warning track in right-center field to end the seventh inning. ... The Red Sox are 8-14 in their last 22 games and their starters are 4-11 during that span. ... The teams combined for nine hits, five by Cleveland.
