Red Sox 6, Marlins 5: Will Middlebrooks had three hits and four RBIs, including a tying two-run blast in the eighth, and Boston rallied to finish off a three-game sweep of visiting Florida.
The Red Sox have won five straight and seven of eight.

Middlebrooks tied the game twice, knotting it at 3 with an RBI single in the fifth and tying it at 5 with his eighth home run - a two-run shot to center - against reliever Edward Mujica (0-3) in the eighth. MIddlebrooks also had an RBI single in the fourth.


The Red Sox kept the eighth-inning rally going when Ryan Kalish singled, took two bases on a groundout by Mike Aviles and scored the go-ahead run on Daniel Nava's single to center.

Boston's second rally was necessitated after Giancarlo Stanton hit a tie-breaking home run over the Green Monster in the sixth inning. Stanton hit a rocket over the 37-foot fence in left for his 15th homer, blasting a 1-2 breaking ball from Daisuke Matsuzaka to snap a 3-3 tie.

Omar Infante added to the lead later in the inning with an RBI double high off the Green Monster against reliever Andrew Miller.

Matsuzaka remained winless in three starts since returning from Tommy John surgery. He allowed four runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Scott Atchison (2-0) allowed one hit in two scoreless innings of relief for the win, and Alfredo Aceves pitched a perfect ninth for his 18th save.

Marlins starter Carlos Zambrano allowed three runs on five hits over five innings. He walked four.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Red Sox improved to 33-2 when leading after eight innings. … Boston's David Ortiz went 0-for-3 to snap his six-game hitting streak. … Miami dropped to 4-14 in June after going 21-8 in May. … The Red Sox hit eight home runs in the series.
