Red Sox 2, Marlins 1: Clay Buchholz struck out a season-high nine in seven innings to win his third straight start and Kelly Shoppach and Mike Aviles delivered two-out RBI hits in the seventh as visiting Boston snapped a four-game losing streak.

Boston’s Vicente Padilla allowed two singles before striking out Giancarlo Stanton to end the eighth inning. Alfredo Aceves worked around a leadoff hit in the ninth to earn his 15th save in 18 chances.

Shoppach, who is 7-for-16 with eight RBIs lifetime against Buehrle, drove in Will Middlebrooks with a double and Aviles knocked in Shoppach with a single. Marlins center fielder Chris Coghlan saved two more runs in the seventh with a full-extension diving catch of Ryan Sweeney’s short line drive to end the inning.

After Miami’s Jose Reyes led off the first inning with a triple down the left field line, Buchholz struck out the side. The Marlins also threatened in the third, but Reyes was thrown out at home by first baseman Kevin Youkilis after trying to score from second on Hanley Ramirez’s infield hit.
