Orioles 8, Tigers 6 (13): Taylor Teagarden hit a walk-off homer off Joaquin Benoit in the bottom of the 13th inning as host Baltimore snapped the Tigers’ six-game winning streak.

After J.J. Hardy broke an 0-for-28 skid with a solo blast to tie the game with one out, Jim Thome struck out before Adam Jones was hit by a pitch. Teagarden then homered just over the right field fence in his second at-bat with the Orioles.

Kevin Gregg (3-2) earned the win for Baltimore, which ended its three-game losing streak and won its 10th straight extra-inning game.

Both closers blew saves in the game, which featured 16 pitchers and lasted 4 hours and 43 minutes. Detroit tied the game with three runs on four hits and an error in the top of the ninth against Jim Johnson.

The Tigers took their first lead of the game in the 11th on Alex Avila’s two-out RBI single, but the Orioles answered in the bottom half of the inning on Jones’ run-scoring single off Jose Valverde.

Quintin Berry drove in Danny Worth in the top of the 13th inning before Baltimore rallied against Benoit (1-2).

Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen gave up an RBI double to Prince Fielder in the first inning before retiring 15 straight batters. Chen allowed two hits over six innings on a career-high 108 pitches.

Baltimore scored in the bottom half of the first on Thome’s RBI double off Max Scherzer, who allowed four runs over five innings.

The Orioles took the lead on Robert Andino’s two-out, two-run blast to left field in the second inning before extending their lead in the third when Jones scored on Chris Davis’ ground out.
