Orioles 3, Angels 2: Miguel Gonzalez pitched seven superb innings in his first major league start and Steve Pearce hit a three-run homer as visiting Baltimore earned a rare victory over Los Angeles.

Gonzalez (1-0), who grew up in San Fernando, Calif. - about 50 miles from Angel Stadium - allowed one run, three hits and struck out six as the Orioles improved to 21-1 when their starter goes at least seven innings.

Rookie Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo hit solo home runs for Los Angeles, which had had won 10 of the last 13 overall meetings and six of the last seven at home over Baltimore.

C.J. Wilson (9-5) lost for the first time in nine starts and fell to 1-1 against the Orioles this season. He allowed three runs, four hits and walked three in seven innings.

Trumbo’s 21st homer came with two outs in the fourth inning before Pearce sent Wilson’s 3-2 offering over the left-field wall in the fifth inning after Wilson Betemit singled and Mark Reynolds walked.

Trout, who leads the American League with a .347 batting average, connected with two outs in the eighth inning off Darren O’Day. Torii Hunter followed with a triple and after Albert Pujols was intentionally walked, Troy Patton got Kendrys Morales to pop out.

Jim Johnson pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his 26th save in 27 chances.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Trumbo became the fastest player in Angels’ history to hit 50 home runs, reaching the plateau in 232 games. Tim Salmon (245) was the previous quickest. … Baltimore was 3-7 in its last 10 games and allowed 73 runs during that span. The Orioles are 6-11 in their last 17 games. … Baltimore left fielder Xavier Avery robbed Maicer Izturis of a hit with a diving catch prior to Trout’s homer. … Morales went 0-for-4 to end his nine-game hitting streak. He was 16-for-37 during the streak.
