The Milwaukee Brewers finally got a strong effort from their starting pitcher in a 4-2 victory over the host St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night, evening the National League Championship Series at two games apiece.

Ryan Braun drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth for the Brewers, who ensured that the series would make it back to Miller Park.

Milwaukee starting pitchers were carrying a 9.00 ERA in the NLCS through the first three games, and it did not look like that number would come down when

Randy Wolf (1-0) surrendered solo homers to Matt Holliday and Allen Craig in the second and third for an early 2-0 hole.

But the veteran lefthander settled down in the middle innings, allowing just two hits after the third while striking out six to pick up the win.

Francisco Rodriguez worked a scoreless eight and John Axford pitched the ninth for his second save of the series.

The Brewers got to Kyle Lohse (0-1) in the fourth, knotting it at 2-2 on back-to-back RBI hits by Scott Hairston and Yuniesky Betancourt.

Nyjer Morgan doubled leading off the fifth and moved up on a groundout, prompting the Cardinals to go to their bullpen for Mitchell Boggs to face Braun. The move backfired when Braun sent a single into left, plating Morgan to make it 3-2.
