The visiting San Diego Padres continued to make themselves at home in San Francisco after posting a 5-3 victory over the Giants on Monday for their 10th triumph in 12 games at AT&T Park.
Clayton Richard (5-9) picked up where he left off against the Giants last year, when he went 4-1 with a 2.39 ERA in six starts. He allowed two hits in five scoreless innings.
Heath Bell secured his 25th save of the season despite allowing a ninth-inning run.
The Padres jumped on Giants ace Tim Lincecum (6-7) for two first-inning runs. Chase Headley had a sacrifice fly and Orlando Hudson added an RBI single.
Will Venable launched a solo homer in the ninth for San Diego.
