The host Colorado Rockies batted around in a four-run fourth inning to snap a tie game en route to a 12-3 rout over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.
Leadoff hitter Ryan Spilborghs went 4-for-6 with a homer, four RBIs and three runs scored as the Rockies banged out 20 hits in this one. It was a big turnaround for Colorado, which mustered just 13 runs in seven games heading into the All-Star break.
Ubaldo Jimenez (5-8) secured his fourth win in his last five decisions.
Milwaukee’s Yovani Gallardo (10-6) lasted just four innings after going seven in each of his previous three starts.
Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun, who returned from a calf injury that had sidelined him since July 2, doubled in the first to extend his hitting streak to 23 games. The Brewers fell one-half game behind the idle St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central.
Rockies All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who had been hitting just .194 since June 28, went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
