Mark Kotsay's two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Milwaukee Brewers an 8-7 comeback victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.

Kotsay, who had given the Brewers a 5-4 lead when he led off the sixth with a solo homer, committed an error in the seventh that sparked a three-run Cincinnati rally, but earned redemption against Reds closer Francisco Cordero (3-2).

After Milwaukee's Nyjer Morgan cut the deficit to 7-6 with an RBI triple in the ninth, Kotsay delivered a bases-loaded hit to right field with two outs to give the Brewers their second straight one-run victory.

The Reds built a 4-0 lead in the first three innings before the Brewers tied it with three runs in the fifth. Rickie Weeks, who had an inside-the-park homer in the third, opened the rally with an RBI double before he scored on a base hit by Morgan. Prince Fielder added a sacrifice fly.

Joey Votto hit a solo homer in the first for Cincinnati, which lost shortstop Edgar Renteria in the third when he was hit by a pitch in the left forearm.

Milwaukee's Zack Greinke struck out 10 over six innings, and allowed four runs on seven hits. Cincinnati starter Mike Leake allowed five runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.
