Francisco Liriano pitched seven stellar innings and Jim Thome hit a three-run homer - the 594th of his career - as the Minnesota Twins ended a seven-game losing streak to the visiting Milwaukee Brewers with a 6-2 victory on Friday.

After waiting out a 2:11 rain delay, Liriano allowed two runs and four hits for his first win in three starts. The lefthander struck out seven, six days after being roughed up by the Brewers during a three-game sweep in Milwaukee. Liriano and the Twins, though, found out the Brewers aren’t nearly as good on the road.

Carlos Gomez homered and Ryan Braun extended the majors' longest hitting streak to 21 games with an RBI single for Milwaukee, but the Brewers' fourth straight loss dropped them to 15-28 on the road. It was Milwaukee's fifth straight road loss and their ninth in the last 11 games away from Miller Park, where they are 29-11.

Thome’s homer off Yovani Gallardo (9-5) - an opposite-field blast that just cleared the left-center field wall - gave the Twins a 3-1 lead in the first. It was Thome's first homer since May 23. He is six shy of becoming the eighth member of the 600-home run club.
