Jon Niese and Francisco Rodriguez combined on a four-hitter as the New York Mets won 4-1 on Thursday, sending the Milwaukee Brewers to their first series loss at home since dropping two of three to Cincinnati from April 25-27.
Niese (5-5) retired the first 11 batters before he walked Ryan Braun with two outs in the fourth and allowed Prince Fielder's RBI double one batter later. He didn't allow another hit until Braun's infield single in the seventh.
The Brewers finally chased Niese in the eighth, when Rodriguez came on with runners at first and second and two outs. Braun laced a line drive to left against Rodriguez, but Jason Pridie made a nice running catch at the warning track to end the inning.
Niese has won four of his last five decisions and has a 1.34 ERA over his past five starts.
Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo (8-3), who had won six consecutive starts, allowed four runs on 10 hits over four innings.
New York's Jose Reyes went 0-for-5, ending his hitting streak at 12 games.
The Brewers failed to hit a home run for only the second time in their past 15 games.
