Ivan Rodriguez drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th and Laynce Nix provided some cushion with a three-run home run, as the Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets 7-3 on Sunday at Citi Field.

Mets starter Chris Young turned in another strong performance on the mound, but the bullpen couldn't preserve the two-run lead it inherited. Young gave up just one run on one hit through seven innings and left with a 3-1 lead, but the Nationals scored twice in the eighth against D.J. Carrasco to tie it.

The Nationals did all the damage in the 11th against righthander Blaine Boyer (0-2), who imploded after working a perfect 10th.

The Mets stranded the winning run at third in the bottom of the 10th against Drew Storen (1-1). The Nationals' bullpen, which worked 12 consecutive scoreless innings before allowing two runs Saturday, put up five scoreless frames Sunday.

After allowing two runs in the first, Nationals starter Jason Marquis settled in and lasted six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and striking out nine.

Ike Davis went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, giving him at least one RBI in eight of the Mets' nine games, and Jose Reyes was 3-for-5 for New York.

Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who had two hits in each of the first two games of the series, sat out with an abdominal strain. He aggravated the injury diving head first into second base in the third inning Saturday.
