Shelley Duncan homered and doubled during Cleveland’s six-run seventh inning as the visiting Indians rallied for a 6-5 victory over the struggling Minnesota Twins on Sunday.

Duncan led off the inning with a homer into the second deck in left and capped it with a two-run double. The go-ahead run scored on Jim Thome’s broken-bat, infield single as Minnesota lost its eighth straight.

Twins starter Carl Pavano (8-13) took a shutout into the seventh and departed with the bases loaded and a two-run lead. Relievers Jose Mijares and Alex Burnett walked the next two batters to allow the Indians to tie the score 3-3, and Thome followed with his slow roller past the mound against Glen Perkins with Minnesota’s infield defense aligned in shallow right field.

Cleveland’s Justin Masterson (12-10) gave up three runs (one earned) and seven hits over six innings to beat Minnesota for the first time in five career decisions.

Chris Perez worked the ninth for his 34th save as the Indians finished off a three-game sweep. Pavano was charged with four runs (one earned) and five hits in 6 2/3 innings.

The Twins pulled within 6-5 in the eighth when Danny Valencia and Ben Revere drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks. Twins rookie Brian Dinkelman had four hits and has seven hits over the past two games.

Minnesota’s Jason Repko was hit in the head by a pitch and transported to a nearby hospital.
