Lou Marson hit his first homer of the season, and Fausto Carmona pitched six solid innings as the Cleveland Indians completed the sweep of a day-night doubleheader with a 6-3 victory over the host Minnesota Twins on Monday.

Travis Hafner drove in a pair and Carlos Santana tripled in a run for the Indians, who extended their lead in the American League Central to a full game over the idle Detroit Tigers.

The Twins, who could have moved within three games with a pair of home victories Monday, dropped seven back. Cleveland took the day game, 5-2.

Scott Diamond (0-1) made his major league debut for Minnesota and held Cleveland in check until the fifth, when Michael Brantley and Asdrubal Cabrera touched him for back-to-back, two-out RBIs.

The Twins tied it on Danny Valencia’s solo homer in the sixth, but Marson responded by leading off the seventh with his first homer of 2011 to give the Indians the lead for good.

Carmona (5-10) was activated from the disabled list prior to the contest and scattered two runs on seven hits. It was just the second win in the last 12 starts for the veteran righthander.
