David Price set a franchise record with 14 strikeouts in seven dominant innings, and Desmond Jennings homered twice as the Tampa Bay Rays trounced the host Toronto Blue Jays 12-0 Sunday.

Price (12-11) had one of the strongest games of his career, racking up 10 strikeouts by the end of fourth while allowing just one runner past first base. He broke the old Rays mark of 13 strikeouts held by Scott Kazmir (2007) and James Shields (2011).

Price improved to 9-1 all-time versus the Blue Jays while avenging his only loss in their previous encounter earlier this month.

The Rays moved to within 6 1/2 games of the Yankees in the American League wild card race. New York split a doubleheader with Baltimore on Sunday.

Jennings handled things on the offensive end, producing the best game of his rookie season. He finished with four hits, three runs, three RBIs and a stolen base while becoming the first Tampa leadoff hitter with a multi-homer effort since Rocco Baldelli went deep twice on Sept. 14, 2006.

Matt Joyce added three hits and a pair of RBIs, while Sean Rodriguez blasted a two-run homer in the second inning, his sixth.

Toronto starter Brandon Morrow (9-9) fell to 1-4 in his last five starts, charged with five runs on six hits over 5 1/3 frames. Blue Jays batters did him no favors, striking out 18 times in the game.
