Robert Andino drilled a three-run, inside-the-park home run and the Baltimore Orioles dealt another damaging blow to Boston's playoff hopes with a 6-3 victory over the visiting Red Sox on Monday.

Andino's shot to deep center field off Josh Beckett capped a four-run sixth inning to drop the Red Sox into a tie with Tampa Bay atop the American League wild card standings with two games to play.

Red Sox center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury crashed into the wall and was unable to hold onto Andino's smash as Boston lost to the Orioles for the fourth time in eight days and fell to 6-19 this month.

Boston, which led Tampa Bay by nine games on Sept. 3, is trying to avoid becoming the only team in major league history to miss the postseason after holding a nine-game lead in September.

Beckett (13-7) lost to the Orioles for the second time in six days, giving up an identical stat line of six runs on seven hits.

Chris Davis added an RBI single and run-scoring double for the Orioles. Baltimore's Vlad Guerrero singled in the sixth inning to surpass Julio Franco for the most career hits by a Dominican-born player with 2,587.

Jed Lowrie homered and Ellsbury extended his hitting streak to 11 with his fourth straight multi-hit game, but the Red Sox stranded 12 runners.
