David Ortiz didn’t flip his bat but he did flog another two-run homer to lead the Red Sox to an 11-6 win over the Yankees Wednesday night in the Bronx.

New York dropped to 1-7 against Boston this season, and while manager Joe Girardi made a huff about Ortiz’s post-homer celebration on Tuesday, he left Wednesday more concerned about the performance of his pitchers.

Boston jumped out early for the second straight night, taking a 7-1 lead after four innings, mostly off the bats of Ortiz and Jacoby Ellsbury, who finished with three hits. J.D. Drew had three RBIs, as both he and Carl Crawford homered late to put the Sox in position Thursday for their second straight sweep at Yankee Stadium.

A.J. Burnett (6-4) continued to be a disaster in the rivalry, allowing eight runs – seven earned – on seven hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings. He dropped to 0-4 with an 8.71 ERA in eight starts in pinstripes against Boston, an opponent he went 5-0 against as a member of the Blue Jays.

Alex Rodriguez started a four-run rally in the fifth for the Yankees with a solo home run off Tim Wakefield (3-1), who gave up five earned runs on five hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings before Alfredo Aceves closed the door with a save over 3 2/3 innings.

Mark Teixeira went 1-for-4 in an unexpected early return after getting pegged in the right knee of Tuesday’s loss.
