Jon Lester tossed eight strong innings to win remain perfect in 14 decisions against the Baltimore Orioles as the Boston Red Sox posted a 6-2 road victory on Thursday night in the finale of a three-game series.
Lester (3-1) allowed two runs and four hits while striking out five.
Dustin Pedroia's infield hit scored Carl Crawford to snap a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning as Boston (11-13) ended a two-game slide. The Red Sox blew the game open with three runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by two-run single by Jacoby Ellsbury.
Ellsbury and Adrian Gonzalez had three hits and two RBIs apiece while Pedroia and David Ortiz had two hits.
Vlad Guerrero belted his fourth home run of the season for the Orioles (11-13).
Jim Johnson (1-1) took the loss in relief of Brad Bergesen.
