Matt Holliday belted a three-run homer and Chris Carpenter pitched eight strong innings as the St. Louis Cardinals recorded their seventh straight victory with a 7-1 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

Randy Winn blasted a two-run shot and added an RBI single for the National League Central-leading St. Louis (53-41), which improved to a season-best 12 games over .500.

Every member of the Cardinals' starting lineup - save for rookie Allen Craig - recorded at least one hit in this one. St. Louis finished with 15 hits.

That was plenty of offense for Carpenter (11-3), who allowed one run and five hits. Dennys Reyes and Fernando Salas finished off the ninth to preserve the victory.

Shane Victorino had an RBI double for Philadelphia (48-45), which fell for the ninth time in its last 11 road games.

Phillies veteran left-hander Jamie Moyer left Tuesday's contest with a strained elbow after finishing a scoreless first inning. The 47-year-old Moyer was replaced by Andrew Carpenter (0-1), who permitted three runs and five hits in three innings to take the loss in his season debut.
