Clayton Kershaw pitched his first career shutout and Juan Uribe’s error allowed Los Angeles to score the game’s lone run as the visiting Dodgers blanked the San Francisco Giants 1-0 on Tuesday night.

The Dodgers had just one hit and plated their run in the sixth inning without the benefit of a hit as San Francisco fell 1 ½ games behind San Diego in the National League West race.

Barry Zito hit Reed Johnson with a pitch and then walked Rafael Furcal and Andre Ethier to load the bases before Uribe booted Casey Blake’s two-out grounder as Johnson scored from third.

Kershaw (12-10) gave up four hits and didn’t issue any walks while winning for the first time in five starts. The 22-year-old left-hander struck out four while hurling his first complete game in three major-league seasons.

Freddy Sanchez singled with two out in the ninth before Kershaw fanned Aubrey Huff for the final out.

Zito (8-13) deserved a better fate than his ninth consecutive loss. The left-hander didn’t give up an earned run and allowed only a second-inning infield single to Matt Kemp. Zito struck out five and walked three in 5 2/3 innings.
